Katahimikan; Philippine National Day of Mindfulness began when three women came together to co-create a day of silence during the height of the presidential campaigns in 2016.  Our co-founders are Beth Ong, Imee Contreras, and Dinah Salonga.

While, our vision for Katahimikan is not political, we chose February 25 because it is a national holiday, allowing greater attendance, coupled with the power of peace.  Importantly, it is not a means to promote ourselves, our services, our businesses, or any political agendas/ideologies. Our mission is to bring people together from diverse backgrounds in the middle of chaotic Metro Manila to learn and practice Mindfulness as we CULTIVATE LOVE TOWARD ONESELF, KINDNESS TOWARD OTHERS, PEACE IN OUR COUNTRY, AND HEALING FOR THE PLANET. Our vision is to promote Katahimikan or pockets of silence throughout the country with more frequency and bring people together to connect in silence.

Join Imee Contreras on June 23, 2019 at the YNow? Arts and Healing Festival as she guides us into the silence of our hearts and minds, leading us toward peace.  This event is free-of-charge.  We welcome everyone.

Dona esteban_edited.jpg

Dona’s purpose is simple: to be fully, fiercely, unapologetically alive. She helps people awaken through their bodies, helps them fall in love with themselves again, and guides people in conceiving and giving birth to an expanded version of themselves. She does these through Embodiment practices (dance, somatics, yoga), Energy Management tools, and Women’s Circles advocating an approach to Women’s Well-being that honors the Deep Feminine energy, the phases of our menstrual cycle and the larger seasons of a woman’s life.

Dona has been a pioneer of movement meditation in the Philippines since 2000 and Yin Yoga since 2010. In Dona's classes and movement labs, you will expand perspective, explore different ways of inhabiting one’s body, and bring harmony to Self by skillfully navigating the oscillation between Yin (Magnetic Feminine aspect) and Yang (Dynamic Masculine aspect). Her practical approach bridges age-old philosophy and new scientific developments with modern day living infused with sensuality.

Dona believes that movement awakens not only the individual. Dance connects, creates, heals, and enlivens the community. As an artist and community builder, Dona focuses on improvisational dance, invocations, and rituals, often inviting the community to co-create with her.

The moves aim to exercise every muscle in the body while promoting efficient blood circulation. With Lee Grane & Francesca Regala

Dates: (Friday) May 24, June 1, June 8, June 22 / Saturday evenings 6-8 pm

Fee: Php 1200 per session

Description:

“We are all just part of it all… You’ll find it in your soul, you are part of something more.

We are born from it all.” - Whole (Truth Is My Echo 2015)

We are living at such a potent time for transformation all over the planet. It is at this time that the power of music, songs & ceremony can positively bring us together to co-create the harmonic vibration that we seek to experience in our inner and outer worlds. This ceremony is a guided musical journey, using the sacred cacao as a heart opening elixir, allowing us to expand our capacity to experience and create JOY in our lives, to be in the state of flow, in a loving space, amplifying our collective prayers as one community through intention & conscious music.

♾

Cacao from the ancient Maya means “Food of the Gods”. It is a nectar rich with compounds used as a heart opening medicine for people to safely experience inner awakening & healing. Cacao Ceremonies originated from the Mayan & Aztec traditions and is used for spiritual & medicinal purposes, bringing balance, releasing endorphins (happy hormones), expanding the heart to feelings of joy, love, compassion & oneness.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A CACAO CEREMONY?
In Spirit Songs & Soul Rhythms, the ceremony is centered around singing.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPERIENCE DURING A CACAO CEREMONY:
* A heart opening journey of oneness, love and bliss
* A meditative state – being able to be purely present

and connect to the wisdom within you
* State of creative flow

BENEFITS:

PHYSICAL: Cacao contains Potassium, Phosphorus, Copper, Iron, Zinc, and Magnesium which enhance the immune system, lowers cholesterol and blood pressure, and increases vitality. The Flavonoids in Cacao, along with a significant amount of Chromium balance blood sugar levels and helps the body’s cells resist damage by free radicals. The high amount of nutrients in the cacao support and nourish the body,

whilst also inducing a detoxifying effect on the liver and kidneys.

MENTAL: Enhanced and deepened meditation, allowing the connection with creative ideas and entering a zone where ‘aha’ moments are received. Increased blood flow

and nutrients to the brain, thus improving focus.

EMOTIONAL / SPIRITUAL: Due to certain active ingredients that help release ‘feel good’ emotions, cacao is considered a heart opener, creating feelings of emotional intimacy and pleasure. Cacao is a facilitator of deep inner meditation and connections. Often used to change your perspective, enabling you to recognize and let go of repeated patterns or bad habits, release energetic blockages and what no longer serves you. Awareness and sensations are heightened due to the increased blood flow throughout the body from the Cacao itself and the ceremonial practices. Balances feminine and masculine energies, allowing the ability to come up with creative ideas (feminine) and act on them (masculine).”

The Hilot Hub therapists were trained from the healing tradition of Mount Banahaw and other Philippine indigenous traditions through Bibiano Fajardo, Ph.D (A.M). He  was the founding president of the Association of Traditional Health Aid Givers, and a founding trustee of the Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Health Care (PITAHC). He assisted in the drafting of Republic Act 8423, or the Traditional and Alternative Medicine Act and its implementing rules and regulations.

As a practicing “albularyo” or traditional medicine man with a degree in Chemical Engineering and 47 years of healing and teaching hilot, he trained therapists and spearheaded a movement for the recognition of hilot as a scientific, mainstream modality. He was a recipient of the Award of Excellence in Traditional Health in 2008 from the International Association of Educators for World Peace (IAEWP) an organization under the United Nations.

Today, the teaching and therapies are supported and preserved by his children, students and friends through the Hilot Hub. The Hilot Hub promotes and offers Philippine traditional hilot services and Philippine herbs for those who wish to experience its natural healing benefits. General Focus: Inner Change, Outer Impact

“Having a life of balance, happiness and impact means integrating practices and mindsets that become tools that allow you to express the highest and best of yourselves to pursue the vision you have for your life. Once we shift what is inside us, we empower ourselves in the outside world, in our careers and relationships. One cannot be separate from the other. What one is inside reflects the kind of life one experiences outside. Life is from the inside–out. In the study of the evolving consciousness today, it is clear that it doesn’t matter what practice you choose but that this practice must transform you, elevate you, and bring you closer to a state of awareness.”

Made up of both lectures and experiential workshops, Jeannie’s series of talks are designed bring you into a deeper appreciation of your personal journey and soul-spiritual development towards wholeness and balance, within the context of the times we live in.

The primary principle is that balance in the body, mind, and consciousness prevents and treats illnesses. Title: DEEPER DIVE INTO YOUR DOSHA

Date: June 15, Saturday / 9:30am-12nn

Fee: Php 200

Description: A distinguishing feature of Ayurveda is its focus on individuality. Each person is made up of a specific combination of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual characteristics. In Ayurveda, these are measured through analysis of the three basic energies that make up the body–called TriDosha (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), that are all present in each person; however, one or two of which are usually dominant. It is when the balance of these three doshas is disturbed that these instabilities show up in the body as disease. Each Dosha represents a physiological principle that governs the function of the human body.

Ayurveda prescribes treatments and lifestyle changes to bring the doshas back into balance.

* A meditative state – being able to be purely present

and connect to the wisdom within you
* State of creative flow

At this time of Great Awakening on the planet, the inner call to return to balance and harmony was the seed that birthed these women’s gatherings.

We offer women’s retreats three times a year and coming-of-age rites of passage for the young girls of the community. Our retreats are centered on immersing in nature, weaving a variety of practices ~ yoga, meditation, earth wisdom talks, music and ceremony, to create life-transforming experiences that will help nurture & support each woman on their path. We come together and gather in sacred space to share our own unique gifts, stories, and wisdom. Remembering our interconnectedness with Mother Earth, our purpose & responsibility as stewards of this beautiful blue planet we call hOMe.

Our mission is to continue to create the sacred gatherings that will stoke the fire of awakening, igniting our heArts to live our fullest potential, stepping into our Higher Purpose.

Our vision is to see our women enheartened and our communities thrive and seeing us all as a collective, living in harmony with All of Life.”

Denise Weldon.jpg

Denise is a Photographer and a Meditator. As a photographer, she pays attention to mundane things, seeing beauty in anything which is alive. As a Meditator and life-long learner, a constant curiosity about humanity and spirituality feeds into her soulful photographs, at once simple, yet transcendent. She says, “This aspect of learning requires study that is not necessarily in the confines of a classroom but rather in life itself… This experience in itself is like being in a studio, moving within it and steeping in that space that comes from that awareness, that mindfulness, that state of being the witness.”

Denise Weldon‘s fine art photographs are quiet contemplative images that invite the light to play with her subjects: people, landscapes and waterscapes, flowers fruits, leaves and twigs. Through her lens, she breathes luminosity and elegance into ordinary things.

Denise is a lover of learning of eastern philosophy, spirituality, meditation, Buddhism, yoga, the healing arts, the power of language and words, and most keen about the connectivity and common denominators that tether our Spirit’s human journey.

Denise is a fine arts and commercial photographer whose works are collected in Canada, France, Hong Kong, India, the Philippines, South Africa, Spain, and the United States. She is a graduate in fine art photography from Wheaton College, Massachusetts and has lived in Asia for most of her life. She resides in Manila Philippines with her family.
